In a major blow to the two largest on-demand music streaming services, Jay Z has removed all of his albums from Spotify and Apple Music. The only content featuring the musician that’s still available are Jay Z’s collaborations with other artists.
A spokesperson for Spotify confirmed “some of his catalog has been removed at the request of the artists.”
Jay Z owns a rival music streaming service called Tidal, which is backed by a range of other musicians. Although the other musicians may have a stake in Tidal’s success, they haven’t removed their content from other platforms.
At least for now, Google Play Music hasn’t been affected.
