A listing in India’s Zauba import-export website indicates that Qualcomm could be prepping a second generation Snapdragon 652 chipset. The new version of the Snapdragon 652 chip features 2GHz/1.4GHz 4+4 cores. A 621MHz GPU is on board, and there is support for a 1440 x 2560 resolution display and 8GB of DDR4 RAM.

58 units of the chip were shipped to India from the U.S. for testing last week. Each chip was given a valuation of $51 USD giving the shipment a total value of $2,958 USD. The Zauba listing referred to the chip as the MSM8976SG. The MSM8976 is the model number for the Snapdragon 652 SoC while the ‘SG’ probably means second generation. See how everything all works together?

The OG Snapdragon 652 chipset can be found powering the Samsung Galaxy A9 (2016), Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro (2016), Oppo R9 Plus, Asus ZenFone 3 Ultra, Alcatel Idol 4s, LG G5 SE and more. We have no idea when the MSM8976SG will be unveiled, but it appears as though testing is still under way.
