The facial recognition technology featured on the upcoming iPhone 8 may enable the phone to be unlocked in “millions of a second.” According to the Korean Herald, the iPhone 8 has 3D sensors that can “deeply sense a user’s face in the millionths of a second.”
Along with those sensors being used for facial recognition, they’ll be used on the front and rear to facilitate AR features, such as adding virtual items to your environment.
Sources speaking with the Korean Herald and others indicate Touch ID will be absent on this model, though there are some conflicting reports on that matter.
