Inventec reportedly is shutting down its all-in-one (AIO) PC subsidiary TPV-Inventa in 2017 and is planning to lay off about 50 employees in the upcoming week, leaving around 20 workers to finish off the subsidiary’s final commitments in finance and sales, according to a Chinese-language Apple Daily report citing the laid-off personnel.
TPV-Inventa was established seven years ago and initially had over 300 employees. After shifting the team of about 90 staff that handles Hewlett-Packard’s (HP) orders back to its headquarters, and a series of layoffs, the subsidiary currently has less than 70 staff members.
A Digitimes Research’s report in June stated TPV-Inventa planned to gradually phase out from the AIO PC market. The report also noted that Asia Vital Components (AVC), a supplier in Lenovo’s PC supply chain, and Compal are expected to benefit the most from the exit, although Inventec, the parent company of TPV-Inventa, will also pick up orders.
