When a top brand designs its annual flagship and launches it, many third-league smartphone makers try to bury all the efforts invested by that company. Of course, there is the second scenario when non-top companies with good reputation redesign their most important phones to meet the new challenges. But what Red Pepper does, shouldn’t bring anything good to it. We have already taken a peek at a couple devices of this company and knew it has no chances against the beasts. The same happened with the Ila Note 5 that was copying the Meizu M5 Note. We saw the same story related to the Ila S5, which was trying to compete with the Xiaomi Redmi 5A. We are sure the Ila S11 (aka Xiaolajiao S11 or Red Pepper S11) will get the same fortune. It was announced recently, and many think this is the strongest iPhone X clone. But let’s take a quick glance at its key features and look at its real photos to understand whether it has anything common with the iPhone X.
The Ila S11 copies the iPhone X design including all the design elements such as the bangs screen. The back and front look absolutely identically to the Apple flagship. The only difference is the logo (and the build quality, of course). But when looking closely we can see this is not a full-screen smartphone. The company put a front-mounted fingerprint scanner below the screen. So instead of using an 18:9 screen, it uses a 16:9 screen, which sounds outdated.
The things get worse when it comes to the hardware. The Ila S11 sports a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels. Under the hood, we can find an unknown entry-level MediaTek MT6737 processor paired with a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of ROM. The front camera uses a 5MP sensor, while there is 5+13MP dual-camera on the back providing a bokeh effect (only). At last, the Ila S11 is packed with a small capacity 2500mAh battery and runs on YunOS 5.1.1.
Even sporting so weak hardware it is priced at 1599 yuan ($241). This is the 1/5 of the iPhone X price, but it’s way higher than a full-screen Xiaomi Redmi 5/Plus. So who can tell me a reason why this iPhone X clone should be bought for such a money?
