Huawei Mate 9 is the upcoming flagship phablet that should be one of the main choices for those that are looking for Galaxy Note 7 replacement. Today, the company has announced its new top-of-the-line chipset, the Kirin 960, that will power the phablet.

The new Kirin 960 still uses the big.LITTLE architecture with four high powered Cortex-A73 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores for less intensive tasks. The CPU is paired with the Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. It supports LPDDR4 RAM, LTE Cat. 12/13, and CDMA and radio frequencies ranging between 330 MHz to 3.8 GHz.

If we compare it with its predecessor, the new chipset has 15% better CPU performance, the GPU efficiency is hiked by 20% with a 180% improvement in graphics performance. According to results, the chipset looks to be better than Snapdragon 821 in both single and multi-core tasks.
