Huawei’s latest flagship smartphone, the P10, has scored an impressive 87 points in DxOMark’s testing. The Mate 9 from last year, had managed to score “only” 85 points, putting it below most other flagship handsets tested by DxOMark.

The latest P10 however, is a decent improvement in terms of camera performance. With a score of 87, the P10 is tied with the likes of Moto Z Force Droid, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, Sony Xperia XZ, and the Sony Xperia Z5.

The testers at DxOMark were more impressed by the photo performance as opposed to video. Despite featuring OIS, videos shot with the P10 were found to have a “jello” effect during walking movements. Videos also exhibited strong luminance noise and strong color shading in low-light situations. When shooting photos, the dual-camera setup on the P10 delivered accurate focus, nice flash exposure, good texture preservation, good white balance, and good exposure even in extreme low light. Some of the cons when taking photos included luminance noise in the sky, slight color shading in low-light conditions, and lost details in darker parts of outdoor shots.

While the P10 may not be the best smartphone out there in the camera department, we’re happy to see that Huawei is making steady progress in this area. For more detailed info on the P10 camera performance, click on the source link below.
