Huawei Honor V9 Black Design Review

213

The Huawei Honor V9 is already available. It’s been designed to fight against other cost-effective models such as the OnePlus 3T. Like other Huawei handsets this one is available in various color options, but the black variant looks too attractive. It was released on March 9, and it’s the right time to take a closer look at its design and learn what the key features are.

This smartphone is very thin coming at only 6.97mm thickness. Many think if a device sports such a housing, it will be weak in terms of battery. There is a grain of truth in this insight, but this is not the case. The Huawei Honor V9 is packed with a 4000mAh large capacity battery, which is more than sufficient for a daily use. Apart of this, the phone has a 5.7-inch display at a 2K resolution, but thanks to rounded corners it’s no problem to hold it and make single-hand operations. The screen is also covered with a 2.5D arc glass, which makes the phone more solid. As for the back, the Huawei Honor V9 features a nano-injection metal housing passed a sandblasting processes. Thanks to it no fingerprints can be left on the body.

Surprised or not, but the Huawei Honor V9 comes with a dual-camera on the back. This module combines two 12MP sensors capable of recording 4K videos. The front camera is at only 8MP. But there is no reason to complain on this feature, because it’s sufficient for regular selfies.

The overall design of the phone is very attractive. It’s not correct to say we are dealing with a smartphone designed in minimalist way or it comes with a symmetric design, but any detail on this handset is well-thought. Say the same rear camera is placed directly on the antenna ribbon. The flash light is located next to it. It looks beautiful and elegant.

There is also a fingerprint scanner on the back. And this is the case we can wonder why the manufacturer hasn’t placed it on front below the screen.

And the bottom side comes with a speaker, micro USB port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The box, which is in blue, also includes a charger at 18W supporting Quick Charge technology allowing the phone to get fully charged in 100 minutes. But it charges to 18% after in minutes. So the Kirin 960 chip doesn’t yield its rivals. By the way, the phone is packed with a 4GB RAM+ 64GB ROM memory options at a price tag of 2599 yuan ($375), 6GB + 64GB at 2999 yuan ($433), and 6GB + 128GB at 3499 yuan ($506).

At the end, there is a cardboard VR glasses (if we can call it so) hinting the Huawei Honor V9 is VR-ready.
