Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC has started rolling out the official Android 7.0 Nougat OTA update to unlocked units of the HTC 10, its latest flagship smartphone. As of now, the update is only being pushed out to the unlocked HTC 10 units in the US, but we expect the update to be pushed out to users in other regions before the end of the year. Carrier versions of the HTC 10 on the other hand, may have to wait until early next year to receive the update.
The Nougat update for the HTC 10 weighs in at 1.11GB in size, so it is required that your HTC 10 be connected to a Wi-Fi network before you start downloading the update. If the update is available for your unit, you should see an automatic notification pop up on your screen soon. You can also check for the update manually by going to Settings – About – Software updates.
The new update includes a number of great features such as improved quick settings, split-screen mode for multitasking, quick switching between apps, new emojis, bundled notifications, improved “Doze” mode, night mode, direct replies within notifications, November Google security patch, and a few other improvements along with general bug fixes.
As for the One M9 and the One A9, it looks like HTC will be updating the two smartphones to Android 7.0 Nougat only by early next year.
