HTC Desire 650 to launch globally next month

In November last year, Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC announced the Desire 650 entry-level Android smartphone. The following month, it went on sale in Taiwan. And now, the company has announced that the smartphone will be rolled out in markets around the globe starting next month.

The HTC Desire 650 features a 5-inch display with 720 x 1280 HD resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass protection on top. The chipset powering the Desire 650 is the outdated Snapdragon 400 quad-core SoC, paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. There is of course a microSD card slot on offer, so users will be able to expand the storage further quite easily. At the back, the smartphone is equipped with a 13MP primary snapper with an f/2.0 aperture lens and an LED flash. For selfies, there is a 5MP resolution sensor on the front, capable of recording 1080p videos. If you are a power user, you will be quite disappointed by the smartphone’s small 2200mAh capacity battery, which will most definitely struggle to last more than a few hours under heavy usage.

The smartphone does have a funky design though, which could possibly appeal to the younger generation. The back of the handset is half smooth and half grooved, which apparently helps improve grip. There are no BoomSound speakers though, you only get a BoomSound profile that can be activated when listening to music via headphones.
