Nintendo finally shed more details on the Switch earlier this week, with the console set to make its debut on March 3 for $299. One of the key aspects of any new gaming console is its launch titles — games you’ll be able to play on the launch day of the console. Nintendo has courted dozens of publishers, with over 80 games slated to make their way to the Switch.
Here’s what we know so far about Switch titles.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be the headlining game in the Switch lineup. Nintendo is aggressively promoting the latest instalment in the franchise, with the game the first in the series to feature voice acting. It will be available as a Master Edition version, which will include a figurine as well as a carrying case for the Switch itself.
1-2 Switch
1-2 Switch is a title that will showcase the multiplayer prowess of the controllers. The game will include several activities that include a Western-style gun duel, and more.
Super Bomberman R
It’s Bomberman, but reimagined for the Switch. It will be exclusively available on Nintendo’s upcoming console, and will feature over 50 stages and a battle mode.
Skylanders Imaginators
The latest instalment lets you create your own characters for the first time in the series’ history.
Snipperclips – Cut it out, together!
Other games, including the likes of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Super Mario Odyssey will be available over the course of the year, and will be joined by more as the console gaing momentum. Super Mario Odyssey in particular looks like a fun game, which sees Mario exploring locations outside the Mushroom Kingdom, like New York City.
However, the biggest drawback with the sandbox-style adventure game is that we’ll have to wait until the holiday season to play the title.
