Google Chrome for desktop and Android will eventually come with built-in support for WebVR, making it easier for VR apps to be delivered through websites. WebVR comes from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and its upcoming inclusion in Chrome was announced by Google at W3C’s Workshop on Web & Virtual Reality.

WebVR will eventually help VR games and apps be streamed from regular sites to VR devices. Google, along with Mozilla and others, have contributed to WebVR’s guidelines and best practices.

According to Google’s Megan Lindsay, the company hopes to release a public version of Chrome for Android that includes WebVR 1.1 support in January. Desktop support will come along later in 2017.
