Google Pixel XL to Carry a Price Tag of $649 in the US

Google and HTC are working together on two upcoming smartphones which, until recently, were known as the Nexus Sailfish and Marlin. However, it seems that Google will ditch the Nexus branding and go with Pixel and Pixel XL instead. And now the price of one of the smartphones has leaked.

David Ruddock from AndroidPolice has revealed that the price of the upcoming Pixel XL will reach $649 in the US, but that remains to be seen. David’s previous leaks have been quite accurate, but the price of a device is difficult to predict, since it could change at any moment before the release. He also mentions that he’s uncertain if the price is for the 32GB or 128GB version of the device, implying that we won’t be seeing a 64GB variant of the Pixel XL.

Late last month, the price of the two upcoming Google devices leaked, suggesting that Pixel, known as Nexus Sailfish back then, would be sold for $449, while Pixel XL would carry a price tag of $599 for the variant with 32GB of internal storage.

Just recently, David Ruddock revealed that the two smartphones would come with Snapdragon 821 SoC, being the first two devices in the US to incorporate the latest processor model from Qualcomm. If so, the price hike from $599 to $649 for the Pixel XL would be justified.

Pixel XL might carry the same price as last year’s Nexus 6P

Last year’s Nexus 6P was launched in the US with a price tag of $649 for the version with 128GB of internal storage, which could suggest that the rumored price tag for the Pixel XL could actually be for the variant with larger internal storage capacity.

Pixel XL is rumored to boast a 5.5-inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and 4GB of RAM, as well as a 12MP rear camera and an 8MP camera in the front. The smartphone is said to run Android 7.1 Nougat, the latest version which might also come with the Nexus Launcher and Google Assistant. Google will also offer Project Fi financing for the purchase of this smartphone.
