As promised earlier this week, Google has kicked off the rollout of its Assistant application to all those smartphones powered by Android Nougat and Marshmallow.
The expansion to all eligible devices will probably take months, but today’s announcement marks the beginning of a new era for Android users.
Even if Google Assistant doesn’t support too many languages, English users will definitely be able to use it in many countries. According to Google’s previous announcement, the Assistant will be delivered to English users in the United States only.
However, the digital assistant will be released for English users in Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom, as well as Germany speakers in Germany, in the coming weeks.
Google has said many times in the past that it will add more languages, but that didn’t really happened. Once again, the Mountain View company stated that additional languages will be coming too Google Assistant over the coming year.
Here are a couple of questions that you can use with Google Assistant: “What’s my confirmation number for my London flight?,” “Take me to Museu Picasso,” “Show my photos of sunsets in Tahoe,” “Do I need an umbrella today?,” “Turn on the living room lights.”
To mark the availability of its Google Assistant on eligible devices, the search giant released a short video that highlights some of the best features of the digital assistant.
If you’re using an Android Nougat or Marshmallow smartphone that’s eligible for Google Assistant, don’t try to download the application in the Google Play store.
The digital assistant will be made available to supported devices through an update to Google Play Services, so if you notice your smartphone is eligible for such an update, then you’ll know Google Assistant is being pushed to your handset. Do you plan on using Google Assistant on your phone?
