Globalfoundries Greater China head reportedly to leave
Josephine Lien, Taipei; Jessie Shen, DIGITIMES [Monday 19 December 2016]

Joe Chen, VP of sales for Greater China at Globalfoundries, has submitted his resignation that will be effective from December 20, according to industry sources.

Chen, who joined Globalfoundries in September 2012, has assisted the US foundry chipmaker in obtaining new 28nm chip orders from many major IC companies. His departure is likely to bring some form of significance to Globalfoundries’ business in the Greater China market, the sources indicated.

Chen will most likely be hired by NXP Semiconductors, which will be acquired by Qualcomm by the end of calendar 2017, or a sensor vendor, the sources said.

Chen previously worked for Marvell where he was responsible for sales, support and customer service for the company’s business in China. Prior to Marvell, Chen worked for Amlogic in Shanghai.
