Gionee, after launching the S11s, and the S11, has come out with a surprise in a classic one more thing move with the Gionee M7 Luxury focused phone.
Gionee M7 Plus Design
The Gionee M7 Plus being focused on luxury drops the metal and glass design of the S11s, and the S11 for calfskin leather and 21K gold plated elements. The entire back is covered with the calfskin leather, while the plate covering the camera and the fingerprint sensor get the gold plating.
When it comes to the front of the phone, the M7 Plus doesn’t lack the feel of luxury there either. with a blue accent on the top and bottom instead of regular black adds a little bit of texture to the phone, and there are practically no bezels on either side of the display. Overall the M7 Plus is quite an upgrade coming from a glass and metal build.
Gionee M7 Plus Specs
The Gionee M7 Plus packs in a SnapDragon 660 Processor with 6-GB of RAM, and 128-Gb of onboard storage with the option to expand with external storage. While the Snapdragon 660 isn’t quite the best out there, it isn’t the worst either. The front of the phone is covered with 86% of the screen, which is a 6.43-Inch AMOLED Full View display.
When it comes to the camera department, the M7 Plus has dual rear cameras, one being a 16-MP f/1.8 sensor and the other an 8-MP sensor. There is also an 8-MP camera on the front for selfies.
The Gionee M7 Plus also incorporates a new technology for the company, 10W Wireless Fast Charging. Given the fact that the phone packs in a massive 5000mAh battery, Fast Charging is a must. The M7 also has Bluetooth 5.0, Dual Sim card slots, and a Micro USB Port among other things.
Gionee also mentioned that they now use a dual-chip system, through they encrypt your fingerprint data through one chip, and encrypt your payment data through the other. This is a very standard feature in most high-end phones, however, a very rare sight in Chinese smartphone OEM’s like Gionee.
Pricing and Availability
The Gionee M7 Plus isn’t affordable by any means, and the company knows it. Gionee is pricing the M7 Plus at a massive ¥4399 ( approx $667 USD), and rightfully so, given the premium materials like the leather, and gold plating. The Gionee M7 Plus is set to go on sale on January 1, 2018.
