GIGABYTE has introduced a new high-performance AORUS branded graphics card, dubbed the GeForce GTX 1080 AORUS xtreme edition 8G.
Powered by the GeForce GTX 1080, the new graphics card utilizes a WINDFORCE Stack 3x 100mm fan cooling system, with an advanced removable copper back plate. The impressive cooling solution is claimed to help deliver superior performance compared to the GeForce GTX 1080 Founder’s Edition card. The graphics card is claimed to offer 5% greater performance in Overwatch, 10% greater performance in Witcher 3, and 5% greater performance in GTA V, all running at 2560 x 1440 resolution.
Like almost every other premium GeForce GTX 1080 card on sale currently, the GeForce GTX 1080 AORUS xtreme edition 8G features fancy RGB illumination with a choice of 16.8 million customizable colors. The AORUS VR Link provides 2 extra HDMI ports that allow users to connect up to 4 monitors and/or VR devices at the same time with a total of 3 DisplayPort and 3 native HDMI ports that can be used interchangeably under VR mode. The outputs are automatically detected upon restarting PC, so no further setting is required.
The card comes with a base clock of 1784 MHz and a boost clock of 1936 MHz in OC Mode. The 8GB of GDDR5X memory on the other hand is clocked at 10400 MHz in OC mode. It draws power using two 8-pin external power connector and requires at least a 500W power supply unit.
