Samsung’s Nougat beta program has represented a neat opportunity for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge to get their hands on Android Nougat before the final version is rolled out to everybody. The two smartphones are the only Samsung phones to run Android Nougat.

Up until now, Samsung released five versions of the Android 7.0 beta firmware for the two smartphones and several reports have revealed that the company might be ending the program soon.

It might seem that the fifth update was the last, considering a post on Weibo which was shared by a tester on Samsung’s beta community, according to SamMobile.

The final version of Nougat could be rolled soon, but Samsung users shouldn’t get too excited since the company still needs a couple of weeks to complete the certification stage before starting to push out the software.

Samsung could start pushing out Android Nougat in January

The post also doesn’t mean that Samsung has completely finished testing the final Nougat version for its phones, but it should be long now.

Some rumors have stated that Samsung could update Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones directly to Android 7.1.1 Nougat, but that might not be the case. Samsung will most likely release the final Android 7.0 Nougat update during the first month of next year.

Previous Nougat beta updates have included some interesting changes. The fourth beta update didn’t include Samsung Notes, as the company decided to provide the app with support for Nougat and make it available in the Google Play Store and Galaxy Apps store. The fifth update was a rather small one and brought fixes to some bugs and stability issues.

Samsung also revealed that a number of other phones will also be receiving an update to Android Nougat, including the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy Tab S2.
