EDN, December 16; Joseph Tsai, DIGITIMES [Friday 16 December 2016]

Sharp is planning to release four new electronic dictionaries in January 2017, targeting mainly the Japan market. The project is codenamed Brain and the four products will feature different specifications and prices for different levels of education including middle school, high school and college and are manufactured by Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry), according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report.

Sharp expects related shipments to reach at least 42,000 units per month in Japan, and orders will mainly come from education procurement orders.

Foxconn has been aggressively pushing Sharp to land education procurement orders in Japan and is currently eyeing the government’s budget for purchasing e-whiteboards.
