One of Apple’s main suppliers, Foxconn, could be opening a facility in Wisconsin. Representatives from the Taiwanese company are speaking with Wisconsin officials to set up a plan, reports the Associated Press. If it sets up in the state, Apple products might be assembled domestically.
Up to 50,000 jobs could be created by the Wisconsin deal and the facility’s creation could be worth $7 billion. The jobs at the factory would also pay much more than they do in Taiwan and there’d be fewer worker safety/health issues.
President Donald Trump has put some pressure on Apple to carry out more manufacturing/assembly in the US, but it’s not clear if this deal would actually change Apple’s production setup.
