The Samsung Focus S and Focus Flash are new Windows Phone handsets that officially debuted on AT&T yesterday, and were set up as demos at an event for the platform held in New York today. We got to briefly play with both models, and their performance was smooth—even on the cheaper handset.
We had to use the phones in a station set up in bright direct sunlight and chained to a surface. Because of this, our first impression of the phones was that the screen is not great in direct sunlight. The visibility wasn’t as bad as the photos suggest, but the various icons were still hard to see. And in an app like Bing where navigation depends on your ability to distinguish between white and light green, we had a rough time.
