Microsoft has partnered with Johnson Controls to unveil the first Cortana-powered thermostat, representing one of the voice assistant’s first moves into the smart home market. Johnson Controls’ GLAS thermostat comes with Cortana and a translucent touchscreen.
It’ll let people control room temperatures, check on their air quality and energy use, and view calendar info. The model is running Windows 10 IoT Core for its operating system. It can pay attention at all times to air quality and adjust settings to reduce energy usage.
Microsoft had previously revealed there would be a range of devices featuring Cortana, including thermostats, fridges, and even toasters.
