First alleged renders of the Microsoft Surface Phone appea…

Noted smartphone leakster Evan Blass has published the very first renders of Microsoft’s fabled Surface Phone. While we have seen a number of fan-made concepts in the past, this is the first time that an actual render of the device has been leaked on the web. However, since the device isn’t expected to be launched anytime soon, do keep in mind that these renders may not be representative of the Surface Phone’s final design.

While Blass initially referred to the device as a concept, he later revealed in a reply to another Twitter user that the device is actually “much more than a concept”. The leakster also wrote that the Surface Phone could be powered by a laptop-class Intel processor, which definitely sounds very impressive. While the latest crop of flagship smartphones are powerful beasts in terms of computing power, we haven’t seen one powered by a notebook-class processor yet.

Based on earlier rumors, the Surface Phone is expected to debut sometime early next year, targeted at the enterprise segment mainly. However, a consumer-oriented version has been rumored as well, perhaps powered by a mobile SoC instead of a laptop-class Intel processor inside the flagship enterprise variant.

The Surface Phone would be Microsoft’s first flagship smartphone in almost two years, as the Lumia 950 & 950 XL were announced in October last year. The Lumia brand, as most of you would be aware, has been discontinued by Microsoft.
