Facebook is helping to expand internet access in India with Express WiFi, an Internet.org program that has just gone live following months of testing in the country. Express WiFi lets people buy “fast, reliable and affordable data packs” through a digital voucher system. Facebook is working with local businesses to increase the number of areas offering wireless service.

One of the goals with Express WiFi is to create a system that’s sustainable for everyone involved from an economic perspective. It is supposed to be a good deal for ISPs, retail entrepreneurs, operators, and Facebook itself.
