Though Facebook has confirmed Russia-linked groups purchased ads to influence the US election in 2016, it can’t say for sure the same issue was present in Germany and France. The company says it’s focused on the US election issue and hasn’t dedicated the same kind of resources to investigating possible Russia-linked ads in other countries.

Commenting on this topic last week, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company had no evidence of a large Russia-linked ad campaign in Germany. However, that could be due to minimal investigative efforts.
