The Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 are all powered by the Exynos 8890 chipset. Next year’s high-end models like the Samsung Galaxy S8, are now expected to feature the Exynos 8895 SoC. The chip appeared on India’s import-export site Zauba earlier this summer, and is believed to be manufactured using the 10nm process.
According to a report out of China, the Exynos 8895 will feature a CPU running as fast as 3GHz. Images will be processed 70% faster. Considering that some believe the Galaxy S8 will be focused on photography (no pun intended, really), that would seem to make sense. In addition, the chip is said to be optimized for low power usage with maximum power consumption no higher than 5W.
The chipset was allegedly tested on Geekbench where it scored 2301 on the single-core test, and a power-packed 7019 on the multi-core test. The Exynos 8895 is code named Kanchen, which was listed on the Zauba posting.
