Adult Swim and Owlchemy Labs today announced that Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality will launch on both HTC Vive and Oculus Rift VR platforms for $30 on April 20. The publisher described the game as “a fast-paced, chaotic VR adventure complete with mechanics and mayhem only possible in VR,”.
Gamers play as a clone of Morty, and puts you in Rick’s lab and home, where you can explore and start your VR adventure. From there you can uncover portals that take you to alternate dimensions, with Rick as your guide of course. Gamers will salve puzzles from different missions, and will be able to “probe, prod, throw, and smash iconic items like the Plumbus,” and other items from the show.
The game was originally announced at the San Diego Comic-Con last year, along with the above trailer. It was also revealed that co-creator and voice actor Justin Roiland (who voices many of the show’s characters) would be heavily involved in the development of the game, stating “The Rick and Morty IP is very open — if people get killed off you can say it was another universe. It’s just a great game to be experimenting with and the stories and characters are easy to play around with,”.
Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality will be available to play on the HTC Vive via Steam and Oculus Rift via Oculus Home for $29.99 starting on April 20.
