Expedia says two execs dismissed after ‘violation of firm

Expedia says Rathi Murthy and Sreenivas Rachamadugu, respectively its CTO and senior vp of core providers product & engineering, are now not employed on the journey reserving firm.

In a press release shared with Bloomberg and elsewhere, Expedia mentioned Murthy and Rachamadugu are “no longer employed at Expedia Group” resulting from an unspecified “violation of company policy.”

“We’re actively searching to fill these roles and remain confident in our technology, strategy, and employees,” the corporate mentioned. “Due to confidentiality, we will not be making any further comments on the matter.”

Murthy’s and Rachamadugu’s departures seem like sudden. Murthy spoke to TechCrunch in regards to the new AI-powered options introduced earlier this week, and she or he reportedly gave a presentation on these options at an Expedia convention with enterprise companions.

They each joined Expedia in 2021, coming from TechCrunch’s then-parent firm Verizon Media (now Yahoo).

This isn’t the corporate’s solely current management change. Ariane Gorin, who was introduced as Expedia Group’s new CEO in February, formally took over this week.
