EVGA is refreshing the top-end of its air-cooled GeForce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 lineup with its new iCX cooling solution. Apparently, the company has redesigned the PCBs of its top-tier GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 cards from the ground up, in response to the recent VRM overheating issues. It also deployed a powerful new cooling solution just to be sure (and possibly to differentiate them from the older cards cooled by the ACX coolers).

EVGA showed us three cards in its 2017 CES booth, the GeForce GTX 1070 SC2 (model: 08G-P4-6573-KR), the GeForce GTX 1070 FTW2 (08G-P4-6676KR), and the GeForce GTX 1080 FTW2 (08G-P4-6686-KR). The cards appear taller than their predecessors, and draw power from a pair of 8-pin PCIe power connectors. The company didn’t detail the iCX cooling solution. It plans to replace the current SC, FTW, and possibly Classified series graphics cards from its product stack, with these new cards.
