Facebook, Google, and Twitter may face legal action from the European Commission for two reasons: unfair terms and conditions as well as not tackling scams. The Commission began speaking with the companies about these problems in November.
This past week, the Commission and other EU authorities met to talk about how they’ll proceed. “Enforcement action” may be required depending on how acceptable the proposals are.
The companies have been given a month to submit their proposals.
If they are to avoid legal action, Facebook, Google, and Twitter must get rid of all T&C wording that’s not allowed in Europe and also figure out how to significantly reduce scams.
