The world’s largest smartphone maker could soon launch yet another affordable Galaxy smartphone targeted at the masses. The device, carrying the model number SM-G5510 has been certified by TENAA in China, which suggests that it could be made official soon.
The SM-G5510 will sport a 5” TFT display with 720 x 1280 HD resolution and will run on a quad-core Snapdragon SoC from Qualcomm clocked at 1.4 GHz. TENAA usually does not list the SoC inside a device, so we will need to wait for more leaks to find out the exact chipset inside the SM-G5510. However, the smartphone did show up on the GFXBench database in the recent past, where it was listed to be powered by the Snapdragon 425 chipset. In terms of memory, the smartphone will offer 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which will be expandable by up to 128GB with a microSD card slot.
Just like the core specs of the smartphone, both the rear and front-facing cameras on the device are likely to be quite impressive for an entry-level smartphone. It will feature a 13MP camera at the back with support for 1080p video recording and a 5MP unit on the front for selfies and video calls. There will also be a 2600mAh capacity battery inside, which again is impressive for an entry-level device from a leading Android OEM. As for the software, Samsung’s upcoming SM-G5510 will run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box when it goes on sale.
This is not the first time that the smartphone has been leaked online. It was certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance a few weeks back and has also made an appearance on the Indian import export tracking portal Zauba. On Zauba, the declared value of the SM-G5510 prototype was listed at INR 6,843, which suggests the handset could be priced well below the $150 mark when it launches.
