Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has a “limited” perspective on the potential threats of AI, according to Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Zuckerberg recently held a Q&A on Facebook Live in which he took a stance strongly opposed to that promoted by Musk, who thinks AI could be an existential threat if not managed carefully.
I have pretty strong opinions on this … I think you can build things and the world gets better, and with AI especially, I’m really optimistic. I think people who are naysayers and try to drum up these doomsday scenarios are — I just, I don’t understand it. It’s really negative and in some ways I think it is pretty irresponsible. – Zuckerberg
In response to that statement on the Q&A, Musk made a Twitter post calling out the Facebook executive.
I've talked to Mark about this. His understanding of the subject is limited.

Zuckerberg’s stance, however, isn’t unusual. It may actually be more common than Musk’s. Many people in the AI field think concerns about the technology being a major threat are unfounded. Now each side seems to be suggesting the other simply has a “limited” perspective on the issue.
In his Q&A response, Zuckerberg went on to tout the benefits of AI and why he thinks it’s wrong to prop up concerns about the tech.
People who are arguing for slowing down the process of building AI, I find that really questionable. If you’re arguing against AI you’re arguing against safer cars that aren’t going to have accidents. – Zuckerberg
