Expecting the datacenter center market to achieve significant growth in the next four years, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) maker Eaton is aggressively developing new solutions that are able to satisfy datacenter players’ demand for power savings, according to Christopher Butler, senior vice president and general manager of Eaton Asia Pacific’s Power Quality division.
Currently, Eaton has an over 20% share in Taiwan’s UPS market with clients coming from different industries including financial, telecommunication, manufacturing, medical and transportation sectors.
Butler pointed out that Eaton has around 700 engineers worldwide in charge of R&D and engineering and 25% of them are stationed in Taiwan mainly focusing on R&D.
In addition to datacenter applications, Butler also believes the electric vehicle will become an important market for Eaton and the company has technologies that are able to convert DC to AC and AC to DC efficiently and will be suitable for use on EV’s power charging.
