2016 was a good year for drone makers. The market doubled in size, with premium drones (over $300) contributing the most to revenue during the twelve months beginning February 2016. NPD Group’s report shows drone sales are positive despite a relatively disappointing holiday season for some companies.
Professional drones (over $1,000) grew the fastest during the first two months of 2017. Drones in the $300 to $500 range were in second place during that period.
NPD found drones with autopilot features sold 5x faster than more basic models. Drones with a follow mode sold 19x times faster.
