Today, Leica has rolled out a new firmware package developed for its T (Typ 701) digital camera model, namely version 1.61, which manages to remove a bug that leads to hanging events when using the imaging device with a 2.8/60mm lens.

Therefore, if you have been encountering this issue until now, then save the downloadable .TUF file on your computer, and transfer it to the root folder of a formatted memory card (must be initialized using a Leica T camera).

Afterward, charge the camera’s battery completely, turn the unit off, connect the newly-prepared SD card, and power on the imaging device while pressing and holding Video Release button.

If all is done properly, Leica’s device should automatically recognize the new firmware and require confirmation to initiate the installation. Also, once finished, it would be a good idea to restart the camera to allow the changes to take effect.

However, bear in mind that, while upgrading (somewhere around 90 seconds), you mustn’t remove the SD card/battery or use any of the camera’s buttons. Doing so might interrupt the installation that can also lead to various malfunctions.

Therefore, download Leica T (Typ 701) Camera Firmware 1.61, and carefully follow all steps as mentioned above to apply the new update properly. Last but not least, check back with us as often as possible to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
