The case of Windows Phone is certainly at an interesting point in its life right now. Microsoft has been slowly making the switch away from a normal consumer base and to that of the business/enterprise market. This has been extremely evident with smartphones like the HP Elite x3, and while that may be a bummer for those of you who have been fans of this platform for quite some time, it’s also opened the door to some pretty sweet deals as Microsoft is trying to clean house of their remaining inventory of past consumer-grade handsets.
In the latest offering, both AT&T and Microsoft are offering a pretty slick deal on the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL. For those who don’t remember, the Lumia 640 XL is a mid-range phablet that boasts a 5.7-inch 720p HD display, 13MP rear-camera, Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, and runs Windows Phone 8.1. Although it isn’t the most exciting phone currently on the market, it offers a huge display and some solid battery life with a massive 3,000 mAh unit packed inside of it.
AT&T and Microsoft are both selling the Lumia 640 XL for just $99, and this is the first time that the phone’s gotten a price cut since its reduction to $149 this past July. The Lumia 640 XL initially launched with a price of $249, so just $99 isn’t that big of a pill to swallow at all. If you purchase the phone through AT&T, you can chose to either buy it outright at that $99 price tag or pay for it over the course of 30-months for $3.34./month. However, either way you’ll be required to get a service plan through AT&T as well. Buying it directly through the Microsoft Store won’t require you to activate the phone with AT&T, but only the white model is currently available.
