Cyber Monday hit a new record this year with $3.45 billion spent online, according to Adobe Digital Insights. That’s 12.1 percent more sales than the previous year, making Cyber Monday 2016 the largest online sales day in history.
“It’s an incredible milestone, but it’s also incredible that Black Friday inched so close to Cyber Monday this year, generating only $110 million less in online sales,” Tamara Gaffney, principal analyst at Adobe Digital Insights said in a statement. “We’ll be watching this closely next year as Black Friday could be the one to top the records.”

We know from their spending that Americans are feeling extra generous this year. Whether that’s to themselves or their loved ones, we’ll have to wait and see when the holidays come.
The best-selling electronics on Cyber Monday included the Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox, Samsung 4K TVs, Apple iPhone, and Amazon Fire, according to Adobe’s data.
When it comes to toys, Lego sets, Nerf, Shopkins, Barbie and the Pie Face Game were among the most popular purchases.
While Thanksgiving weekend and Cyber Monday sales were off to a roaring start, it’s just the beginning. Adobe is projecting the holiday season will help retailers rack up a grand total of $91.6 billion in online sales.
