“Committed to Windows Phone”: Windows 10 Mobile Slow Ring Up…

221

Microsoft has just released Windows 10 Mobile build 15043 to phones in the Slow ring of the Windows Insider program after no less than 105 days since the previous update, despite the company reiterating its commitment to improving and supporting the platform on several occasions.

Windows 10 Mobile build 15043 is also the most recent build for the Fast ring, while PCs this week received build 15046, so phones were once again left behind despite Microsoft’s efforts to keep all devices in sync.

But as far as Windows 10 Mobile devices are concerned, not only that phones are getting painfully fewer updates and they’re often skipped by Fast ring releases, but at the same time, the Slow ring is rarely receiving any new builds whatsoever.

And living proof is today’s release, which takes place after 105 days since the previous one, and it represents only the second Creators Update build pushed to devices in the Slow ring.

New features and tons of fixes

For what it’s worth, this build doesn’t bring any new mobile features in particular, but it does include features that were previously released to the Fast ring, so Slow ring users are getting quite a lot of new goodies, including eBook support in Microsoft Edge.

Microsoft is pushing Edge beyond the browser world and is giving it eBook reading capabilities, so after testing this support in several builds, Slow ring mobile users can give it a try as well.

Other than that, there are tons of fixes and there’s no doubt that this build is worth installing, especially because it arrives at a time when the Creators Update is supposed to be feature-locked already.

The release of Windows 10 Mobile build 15043 for the Slow ring could be a sign that the Creators Update is indeed just around the corner, though Microsoft is expected to release some other Windows 10 builds in the coming days and weeks as well.

Windows 10 Creators Update is expected to go live in April for retail users, but the final RTM build should be compiled and shipped to insiders by the end of this month.
