Chuwi Hi9 Air Review: Packaging
The packaging in which the Chuwi Hi9 Air comes is cardboard and has the following dimensions: 27×24.70×3.50cm, this together with a total weight of 1.00Kg, so it is considered to be within the standard models of these products.
As is usual, within it is not only the Tablet, it also offers other things, in this case, the package comes with the following:
- 1 x Chuwi Hi9 Air
- 1 x Screen protector
- 1 x Charger
- 1 x USB / Micro USB cable
- 1 x Adapter
- 1 x User’s manual
Chuwi Hi9 Air Review: Design
The Chuwi Hi9 Air could look like a tablet very similar to others that are available in the market, but the truth is that its design is much thinner than the average, in addition to having almost no bevels, so the use of its screen will be much more comfortable.
Its dimensions speak for themselves since they are 24.17×17.20×0.79cm with a weight of 0.55Kg. Its body has a metallic finish and comes in an elegant pure black color. In addition, in the back, we can see two cameras (a rear and a front) located in the area of the cover that hides a set of slots and interfaces such as the Micro SD card and a Dual SIM configuration.
In addition to this, in the upper part, it has a 3.5mm jack input for the use of the headphones. On the sides, we can see the volume and the power buttons. The manufacturer’s logo can be seen in the central part of the rear area.
Something interesting about this tablet is that it can be used with up to two SIM cards, a feature that not many devices of this type have. This translates into compatibility with mobile networks, so you can navigate with the Chuwi Hi9 Air from anywhere.
Chuwi Hi9 Air Review: Display
We are facing an IPS panel of 10.1″ with a WQXGA resolution of 2560×1600 pixels that reaches a brightness of 400 cd/m2. The Tablet has very bright and clear colors, and we are pleased with the fact that it achieved 2k resolution.
The great advantage of the IPS panel is that, as mentioned above, thanks to its design it will have good colors of the image from any angle you see it.
The panel is able to recognize 10 different types of simultaneous touches, so we can use it comfortably in its entirety without limitations. Ideal for those who enjoy multiplayer games on the same Tablet.
Chuwi Hi9 Air Review: Hardware & Performance
The Chuwi Hi9 Air has in its power a powerful Deca-Core MT6797 (Helio X20) processor which can reach a maximum speed of 2.1GHz. During our experience, we verified that we are not facing the most fluid processor when too much is required, but under average use, Chuwi’s device performed very well.
The GPU that accompanies this processor is an ARM Mali-T880 of 780MHz, which is considered an improvement from the previous version, offering greater speed and stability when running all kinds of graphics. Additionally, thanks to its 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM it is possible to maintain stability in the device. There is also 64GB of eMMC ROM, this can be expanded up to 128GB by means of external cards, although it is not the fastest in its speed of writing, it offers a decent space to store.
To test its power, we did a performance test with the ASPHALT 8 game, which demands all the possible hardware of the device where it is executed. We can appreciate in the test that it moves exceptionally fluid with high graphics. Although the experience was very good, it is pertinent to highlight that the game was not played at constant 60fps; although it did not suffer from considerable slumps.
Chuwi Hi9 Air Review: Operating System
Little by little the Chinese terminals begin to improve in the relationship that the user has with their device, which is why they look for the best system that suits them. And, in the case of the Chuwi Hi9 Air, it is an Android 8.0 system that offers a high level of customization for the user, as well as a series of quick functions that can be applied using the buttons on the Tablet.
Of course, the main objective of this operating system is to keep the user connected to obtain the highest possible productivity of this, and it is achieved through customization as it offers a unique experience and thus feels more comfortable to the time to use it. We have decided to keep it as original as possible.
Chuwi Hi9 Air Review: Camera
As said before, this device has two cameras, one in the back and one in the front area, to be more exact, above the screen in the center. On a technical level, its rear camera has a 13.0MP resolution, while the front has a 5.0MP resolution.
This shows a huge improvement in relation to the cameras of its predecessor, because this is usually a feature very forgotten by some manufacturers of Tablets, but in the Chuwi Hi9 Air is little different, since the photos that can be taken during the days are quite good and although the quality is noticeably reduced at night, the colors are still quite interesting. Below we leave two of the photographs we took during our use.
Chuwi Hi9 Air Review: Connectivity
Thanks to its capacity to store SIM cards, the Chuwi Hi9 Air is capable of using mobile networks with 4G, 3G, and 2G technologies. In addition, it is compatible with a Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac wireless internet.
By breaking down its peripherals and interfaces, we can appreciate the following:
- Dual SIM tray
- Slot for micro SD card
- 3.5mm Jack port
The sound emitted by the speakers is quite good especially because of its stereo configuration), but we still prefer the sound generated directly when connecting the headphones because it is perceived better.
Chuwi Hi9 Air Review: Battery
It has a lithium polymer battery with a capacity of 8000mAh, so it is quite large and offers a fairly long time of use. Its loading time despite its size is only 3 hours, which translates into a usage time greater than the time it will take to discharge. We had no problems in reaching the day of use under average use, but if we are very intensive, the battery will perform an average of 6 hours.

Chuwi Hi9 Air Review: Conclusion
This device has many positive qualities, so we would be lying if we chose some as our favorites. Its design is exquisite, hiding to perfection its manufacture in plastic with a polished finish, besides that this construction makes it light and portable. It has a huge potential for the vast majority of applications and games that are currently available without going very far. It also offers a great capacity for customization thanks to its operating system, making it a fairly user-friendly product, both veterans, and new ones.
However, also seeing the other side of the coin, it should be said that there are certain things that could be improved, such as cameras, which, although it is true that this is not a device designed to act as a camera, but there are other options in the market with this more outstanding section. However, throughout our use this did not represent a major drawback, so we can say that the Chuwi Hi9 Air is a considerably better device to its predecessor and its more direct competition, and of course, a product with great validity in the current market, offering something of high quality at a low price.
Chuwi Hi9 Air Review: Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Design with almost no bevels for better viewing angles
- Huge battery for a long time of use
- Powerful processor to move any modern application
- An operating system with high customization (Android 8.0)
Cons:
- The cameras could be of better quality, but their weaknesses are mostly appreciated at night
