LingLong, a Chinese technology company, has created a smart home device with a memorable name. Known as the DingDong, it can play music and respond to questions, similarly to Amazon’s Echo. It’s a voice-activated device and is very much a Chinese alternative to the Echo.
The DingDong costs $118. It’s only available in two languages, Mandarin and Cantonese. You must pick your unit’s language when ordering the product. LingLong says voice recognition isn’t perfect, but 95% of users should be understood when they’re giving commands.
Development on the DingDong began prior to the Echo’s introduction, though LingLong admits Amazon’s device had an impact on the company’s work.
