China’s Boa Tech. Rumored to Supply Apple MacBook Display…

244

Latest rumors emanating from China indicate that Apple’s MacBook will use a display panel supplied by a Chinese manufacturer. Apple had in the past used display panels supplied by Samsung or LG but due to the recent adjustments in Samsung’s production capacity Apple is said to have gone in search of a new supplier for its expected Macbook’s display panel and the US-based company is rumored to have found a suitable partner in China’s Boa Technology.

According to the latest rumor, Boa technology had between August and September been making efforts to get Apple’s certification and that done with, the company’s display panel is set to feature on Apple’s MacBook Air with 13.3-inch display.

If this rumor turns out to be true, the MacBook Air would be the first Apple MacBook  to feature Chinese-manufactured panel. In addition, the company is said to have gone to work and would likely deliver the device before the end of the year.

China’s display panel industry is well known for its cheap display panels but then has been an unlikely destination for most phone makers who usually patronize companies in Taiwan, Japan and South Korea until recently. Considering the strict standard which Apple is known for, if indeed Boa technology could scale through and get on the Apple supply chain, then it may just be an indication that the China would soon be a major player in supply of display panels as well.
