China Mobile will take the initiative to implement its 5G communication networks by setting up seven experimental base stations in 4-5 cities in 2017, using 6GHz and below frequencies, according to industry sources.
More cities will be selected to be covered by its experimental networks and each selected cities will have 20 base stations for commercial test in 2018.
By 2020, the number of 5G base stations set up by China Mobile will reach 10,000 to pave the way for the telecom operator to deploy 5G communication networks for commercial use, said the sources.
