Serial tipster Evan Blass disseminated a tweet yesterday that includes new renders of the LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8, each inside a case. The placement of the Galaxy S8’s fingerprint scanner, to the immediate right of the rear camera, continues to be cited by those who believe that the image is not real. Blass’ original leaked image of the Galaxy S8 from last month, and the brand new render, both show the fingerprint scanner in the same location. To confirm this design, we even showed you some protective cases with a cutout for the fingerprint scanner in that location. We should also point out that like the original leak, the new render shows a single camera setup in back of the Galaxy S8, refuting some rumors that call for a dual-camera setup in back.
As far as the LG G6 is concerned, the render resembles just about every leaked image of the phone, at least from the back. That’s to say it includes a horizontally mounted dual camera setup with a flash in the middle, flanked on either side by a camera sensor. Underneath the flash is the fingerprint scanner, and the back appears to be made of brushed metal.
Both phones have extremely thin side bezels, and with small top and bottom bezels to boot, you can tell the 2017 models apart from earlier versions. The LG G6 will be unveiled on February 26th at MWC in Barcelona. It should be released in the states on April 7th. The Samsung Galaxy S8 will star in a one-minute video at MWC, with the official introduction taking place on March 29th. Besides the 5.8-inch Galaxy S8, Samsung is expected to remove the wrappings on the 6.2-inch Samsung Galaxy S8+ at the same time.
