CBS will launch a new cable-free channel dedicated to sports this year. It’ll be available through internet-only television providers, which presumably includes services like DirecTV Now. Les Moonves, CEO of CBS, said it’ll be a “24/7” live streaming sports channel.
Details about the sort of content it’ll offer aren’t available and the company has only said it’s going to arrive later in 2017.
Offering a sports-centric channel of this sort could help CBS better compete against ESPN and Fox Sports, which tend to dominate the area of sports coverage and content.
