A 38-year-old male, was arrested by police officers after he was remotely locked inside of a stolen BMW.Luxury vehicles usually come with advanced technologies—a lesson one Seattle car thief learned the hard way.

This burglar was scouting out cars when he found out a BMW 550i that was unlocked with the keys inside.

The owner, a recently married couple had loaned their vehicle to a forgetful friend who left the keys within the vehicle.

After the police had been alerted, an interesting turn of events happened. As it turns out, BMW employees are able to remotely lock out BMW car doors, essentially, trapping car thieves within the vehicle, even being able to communicate with them via the car’s sound system, according to Jonah Spangenthal-Lee, SPD Deputy Director of Communications.

The police arrived at the scene at about 5.45am and the car was found parked in an alley, with the thief dozing off in the driver’s seat.

After his futile attempt to run off from the scene, the thief was discovered to have been holding on to some methamphetamine and he was arrested for both drug possession and auto theft.
