In June 2015, just after Microsoft decided to retrench Windows Phone, we heard of a range of x50 Lumia handset, some of which were eventually cancelled.

The Lumia 750 was a mid-range handset powered by a Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2ghz paired with an Adreno 306 GPU, a first for the Lumia line. Its screen size and camera receive a bump to an 8 MP Zeiss lens and a 5 inch HD screen.

The full specs included:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 MSMM8916 4xCortex-A53 cores @ 1.2GHz
  • Adreno 306 GPU
  • 1GB RAM / 8GB + microSD
  • GSM HSPA
  • 5″ Screen 720×1280 GG3
  • 8MP 3264×2448, Zeiss optics, autofocus, LED flash 1080p@30fps + 5MP ffc
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, hotspot
  • BT v4.0, A2DP, LE, apt-X
  • 2650mAh battery
  • GPS (A-GPS GLONASSL) Accelerometer, proximity, luminosity, led notification

Today Chinese site Nokibar uploaded a video showing the device in action.  The handset is a good example of a lower-mid-range Windows Phone for 2015, but of course, the tragedy is that some companies are still trying to sell handsets with equivalent specs in 2017.

In the end Microsoft, of course, decided to cede the Windows Phone market to their OEMs, leading to a catastrophic loss in Windows Phone market share. We can but look at the device above and wonder what might have been if Microsoft kept fighting the good fight and field a full range of competitive handsets into the market.
