There’s no shortage of kid-friendly content available on streaming media services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. But what if you want your kids to grow up with an appreciation of the classics?
Time Warner has unveiled a new subscription video service called Boomerang that will stream classic cartoons when it launches this spring.
Price at $5 per month or $40 per year, it’ll be a lot cheaper than Netflix… but it also has a much more limited selection of content. In some cases that might be a good thing though.
Programming will include Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, The Smurfs, and Scooby-Doo cartoons.
Content will come from Hanna-Barbera, Looney Tunes, and MGM. There will also be some newer, original content and Boomerang says “thousands of episodes” will be available for on-demand streaming.
Boomerang will be available for smartphones, tablets, computers, and “streaming devices.”
Probably the best thing about the ad-free service is that you don’t have to worry about kids stumbling across inappropriate content… you know, unless the exit the app and fire up a web browser on your phone or something.
