Amazon announced on Wednesday that its digital assistant, Alexa, will arrive on BMW vehicles starting next year. By mid-2018, the assistant will be present on some BMW and MINI vehicles, though the exact models that’ll receive Alexa haven’t been disclosed.
With the assistant, users will have another way of accessing certain commands (i.e. garage door opening). Alexa can also show weather graphics on in-car displays.
Some cooperation between BMW and Amazon has already existed in this domain. Last year, Alexa was added to the BMW Connected App, allowing drivers to control some aspects of their vehicles via an in-home Alexa device.
