Popular tipster Roland Quandt, who has a very impressive track record with leaks in the past, today revealed the alleged spec-sheet of the upcoming ‘BBC100-1’ smartphone from BlackBerry. The ‘BBC100-1’ will not be manufactured by TCL but is instead being developed by PT BB Merah Putih. The smartphone had made its first appearance online a few weeks back when it was spotted at Indonesian e-Certification database POSTEL.
The BBC100-1 will feature a 5.5-inch display with 720 x 1280 HD resolution, which means it will have a pixel density of around 267 pixels per inch. It will be running on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 425 quad-core SoC clocked at 1.4 GHz. The Snapdragon 425 is a 28 nm processor based on the ARM Cortex-A53 architecture, integrating the Adreno 308 GPU. The combination of an HD display and the Snapdragon 425 chipset clearly suggests the BBC100-1 will be an affordable Android smartphone that could mainly be targeted at emerging markets.
Moving on to memory, the smartphone is tipped to come with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. While Quandt’s tweet does not confirm it, we are fairly certain that the handset will include a microSD card slot for further expansion, like other handsets from BlackBerry. In the camera department, the BBC100-1 will come equipped with a 13MP primary camera at the back, and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. A 3000mAh capacity battery will keep the lights on. One of the key highlights of the smartphone will be Dual-SIM support, a feature that hasn’t been seen on a BlackBerry handset so far.
