BitTorrent’s P2P alternative to traditional streaming services is now available on iOS. The service, known as BitTorrent Live, utilizes distributed internet bandwidth instead of a centralized source to deliver content. It currently features 15 channels, including NASA TV, QVC Home, and France One.
The platform has lower expenses on the content delivery side due to its P2P nature. BitTorrent may therefore have a larger amount of money to offer content providers.
Live reached smart TVs, Mac, Apple TV, and Fire TV earlier this year. It was supposed to land on iOS in mid-2016.
BitTorrent is still working to include larger channels.
